Folded Light was a chance to test bringing more of my illustration style into painting while experimenting with colour and softness. It’s a portrait of a woman looking downward, calm and reflective, caught in a moment of stillness.
There’s a slight chromatic abrasion around the edges with subtle shifts in colour that give the piece a delicate, almost spectral quality. I liked the way it made the figure feel gently suspended, like light folding around her rather than just landing on her.
This painting was a small study, but meaningful because it's a moment where I started to see my illustration background and painting practice begin to overlap in a more intentional way.
